Innotek

The Innotek IUC-4100 is the most dependable dog fence system. The collar is a nice size, the collar batteries are rechargeable, and it has a feature that tells you when the collar is fitted properly.

The Ultrasmart Collar

The 4100 has a streamline collar that is nicely contoured to the dog’s neck. It is one of the littler and lighter full sized collars. There are no controls at all on the collar, so it is nicely sealed, has great waterproofing and longevity. It would be comfortable with this on any dog over 12 pounds, under 12 pounds and you would be better off with the PetSafe Little Dog. The Innotek collar is rechargeable. You set it down on this charging cradle, the light starts flashing red and in 1-2 hours the light goes green to tell you it is entirely charged. The charge lasts for when it comes to a month, before you need to stick it back on the charger. This feature is fantastically commodious and means you don’t need to keep buying special batteries from the manufacturer. Batteries have a good life span, we have seen collars still going strong after 5 years

The Innotek 4100 has a collar fit feature that tells you when the collar is on correctly. An improperly fitting collar is the most mutual reason for a dog to not respond to the dog fence, exceptionally on dogs with long or thick coats. – You put the collar on collar fit mode and then you fit it onto the dog. When you have proper contact with the dog’s skin the collar makes this beeping noise to tell you that you have it on right. The prongs unscrew, and the scheme comes with short prongs, long prongs and no-correction training prongs. This strap gets mixed reviews, most persons would rather it was cloth and had a snap-type buckle like the PetSafe. Some persons prefer these polymer collars because they are more lasting and are posing no difficulty to keep new looking.

Transmitter Box

Since there are no controls or buttons on the collar, all the controls reside here at the control box. This is both the strength and the greatest drawback for this system. Since you are adjusting all the settings here, you must have the same setting for all the dogs on the system. This is fine if all your dogs are a similar size. But if your dogs are rather dissimilar in size (more than 20-30%) this will not work well out of the box.

Inside the control box, there the following basic controls: – boundary width adjustment knob – this controls how close the dogs may get to the boundary wire – correction strength – you have three settings (high, medium, low or 1,2,3?) and the correction is progressive so the strength will increase the closer they get to the wire – field size – to adjust the system for installations up to 25 acres – battery backup – in the back of the control box, there is a spot for 8 AA batteries that give you a couple of days of power backup for the control box in case there is a power failure.

Accessories

You may use the Innotek 4100 with the indoor and outdoor pods. The indoor pod sends out a circular boundary 2-12 feet, that keeps the dogs away. So you may slip this beneath a sofa to stop couch surfing, or keep the dog out of a room or stop them going up stairs. The rock, is an outdoor pod, cleverly designed. This works either wirelessly to invent a circular boundary, or you may run up to 100 feet of boundary wire off the Rock to keep the dogs away from a flower bed or out of the fish pond. When you use these, wait when it comes to a month after your dog has learned the outdoor fence system. That is more important, and we don’t want to confuse the dog or overwhelm them with too a lot of new rules at the same time.

Conclusion

The Innotek 4100 is an outstanding all around system even though it has a few limitations. As brought up earlier, there are better selections for dogs under 12 lbs, or for dogs that are very dissimilar sizes. However, for most do-it-yourselfers, the collar fit feature, rechargeable collar and battery backup, indoor and outdoor pod compatibility, and proven reliability of the system makes this a outstanding choice.

5This product no doubt saved our beloved dog
By D. J. Ricker II
We’ve had this product for with regards to 3 years, and perfectly love it. We live on a reasonably busy street, and even even though we have a fenced in back yard, our schnauser always found a way to get out. We even tried a screw type of stake in the back yard however, within a month, he figured out how to unscrew it from the ground. After that, we applied the same steel cable to attach him to the garage, he in some manner snapped the cable!

It was when we went looking for him after the cable snap, that we saw him down the street, crossing the street directly in front of a car! Our hearts both jumped and we decisive right then and there that since not one thing else had worked, we were going to get an electric fence.

We went to our local Menards, and found the SD-2000. It was on sale, so we went in front and got it. Now, don’t let any individual fool you, putting this thing in is no easy chore. It took us a few days to inter the wire for it. However, once that hard work was out of the way, everything else has been great! In less than two weeks of following the instruction DVD, our 2 year old pup was totally trained! He hasn’t tried to leave the yard since!

Without this product, we feel closely sure that we would have experienced the disaster of finding our dog in the middle of our street. This is something that no pet proprietor ever wishes to face, and for that we say THANK YOU! to Innotek.

2Buyer Beware
By Pet Lover
This scheme worked outstanding at first. However, once the batteries passed away in both of our dogs’ collars and we had to replace them, neither collar would work at all. Calling Innotek was useless. These collars lasted just over a year and since they were out of warranty the only thing they could do was give us a credit towards the buy of new collars. They did not care that their product was defective. We will never buy another Innotek product again knowing that once the warranty has expired so does the usefulness of their product.

2Replacement Parts expensive
By L. Lefczik
It worked – for a while.

service at Innotek is the pits. I felt like I was bothering in the guy on the phone.

I had to call because my transmitter stopped working. If you read the warrentee, it is not covered for lightning stikes. One of the firstborn questions is “Could it have taken a lightning strike?” How would I know. The wire is in the ground outside. I guess it could have. Try to prove there was no lightning near by. I realize now it was not engineered to survive any near-by strikes so they will not cover the transmitter.

When I asked if there was any options, he tried to trade me a $250 dollar system. No offer to fix it or replace it. Price for just the transmitter $60 + S/H. I am now looking for a dissimilar brand system for not much more. That way I will get a new transmitter and new collar and, hopefully, a friendly CUSTOMER service..

Yes, I will keep out of the way of this brand.
