I introductory started listening to Enigma with regards to the time Return To Innocence was freed and was played on the radio a lot. Most humans I recognise don’t listen to Enigma because they just don’t recognise regarding them. Most persons think they have never of heard them until you tell them a good deal of of their songs. Enigma are an electronic trance group and started a completely new music genre, Enigmatic Music.

The group was founded in 1990 by Michael Cretu, his wife Sandra (the “voice” of Enigma), David Fairstein and Frank Peterson in France. Enigma were one of the initial recording groups to use a HD recording studio and their use of non-percussion instruments and voice samples such as the Shakuhachi Flute and Monk Chants makes their sound unique. I like to listen to Enigma when I need to chill out and relax, and even though they do have a beat behind them this actually helps the music to flow.

Enigma original started to gain a following after their release of Sadness (Part I) which was rather debatable at the time for featuring Monk Chants and likewise sexual sounds played over a dance beat. Some say that this style was influenced more or less by Mike Oldfield’s Tubular Bells III and The songs Of Distant Earth.

Michael Cretu states that the Enigma “sound” was inspired by him falling asleep on the London Underground. Their primary album (MCMXC a.D.) is said to be with regards to unsolved crimes and philosophical ideals such as the afterlife. In the early years it wasn’t sure whether Enigma were genuinely a band, a group or just one person and this was principally due to the fact that Cretu was cautious with regards to the release of the album, and credited himself on the album as Curly M.C. and there was not much info in regards to Enigma on the album sleeve. The anonymity was soon made null when there was a lawsuit filed versus Enigma for the use of some of the audio samples in their music.

Enigma have had galore of their music featured on TV and also in Movies. The single Return to Innocence has featured on assorted TV shows (The Outer Limits, Man Of The House, The L Word and My So Called Life), TV adverts (Virgin Atlantic) and even the Movie: Exit To Eden. Sadness (Part I) has been featured in the Movies: Boxing Helena, Cold Case and Charlie’s Angels and has also featured on the comedy TV series Chappelle’s Show.

D.N.R. is a dark comedy following the daily life of a young man who gets caught in the dark underbelly of hospital life. JOHNNY is a naive, twenty-one year old living in the Mid-West. He takes a occupation as a hospital transporter to hold him over until something better comes along. Johnny believes this occupation will only be temporary and have no real affect on his life. He tardily discovers this is not the case. After surviving his strange orientation, Johnny meets an interesting and often disturbing group of co-workers. Johnny is without any delay taken under the wing of SCOTT, the hospital slacker. Scott became a transporter for the same reasons as Johnny, but after eleven years he has given up on the idea of finding something better and now finds amusement in being the most hated worker at the hospital. When a young nurse catches Johnny’s eye, he is too timid to ask her out and soon finds himself caught in the ‘friend zone’. Johnny tardily becomes comfortably miserable with his new position in life. Things take a turn for the worse when Johnny’s best friend gets engaged and they get started to drift apart. This hilarious and poignant book will instantaneously draw you in and leave you eagerly awaiting the next season of D.N.R.

It doesn’t get much better than this!

This is the funniest book I have ever read. I can’t remember that last
time I read a book that made me laugh out loud. A MUST READ!!!

Good if You’re Having Trouble Sleeping

I got this as a bargain book and still paid too much. Talk about a snooze!! No wonder it wasn’t made into a TV show – and I like dark comedy. Nothing funny or even interesting! I couldn’t even get to the end. I wouldn’t even recommend borrowing this from the library.

One Laugh After Another

Once you get started you’ll find it very hard to put this book down. Written from a first hand inside point of view, numerous stories and “quick peeks” of hospital reality afford the reader numerous opportunities to laugh until the onset of tears. A comedic gem spun around a hilarious cast. I eagerly await Season Two.
